Modelado y reconstrucción 3D de los hornos del Alfar Romano de Cartuja

En los siglos I y II d.C., los terrenos del actual Campus Universitario de Cartuja (perteneciente a la Universidad de Granada), estuvieron ocupados por un barrio alfarero, ubicado en el cinturón periurbano de Florentia Iliberritana, la ciudad romana documentada en el actual barrio del Albaicín.

Las excavaciones arqueológicas, desarrolladas desde los años 60 del s. XX y retomadas desde 2009 por el Departamento de Prehistoria y Arqueología de la Universidad de Granada, han permitido sacar a la luz multitud de estructuras vinculadas a este centro de producción de cerámica. Entre estos elementos destacan un total de 14 hornos para la cocción de diferentes tipos de materiales, diez de ellos en el sector hoy en día visible y visitable (https://educa.ugr.es/).

El proyecto CarqTUJA·3D tiene como objetivo principal la documentación, modelado y reconstrucción en 3D de los hornos alfareros mejor preservados del complejo. Modelos que además de ser accesibles a través de esta página, serán empleados en la actividad docente y en las cada vez más frecuentes visitas realizadas al patrimonio del Campus de Cartuja.

En la actualidad desarrolla dos líneas de investigación principales. Por una parte el estudio del papel del agua en la producción artesanal romana, analizando aspectos como el abastecimiento, la gestión y el desecho del preciado líquido en diferentes actividades productivas antiguas. Investigación que desde 2015 financia la Universidad de Granada a través de su Plan Propio de Investigación.
